Ondoko artikulu honetan Hannah Arendten giza jaiokortasunaren kontzeptua aztertzen da, Historiaren pentsamolde eboluzionista hautsi eta askatasun politikoa babesten duen kategoriatzat harturik. Jaiokortasunak –hilkortasunak ez bezala– hasiera berriei ekiteko giza ahalmenarekin du lotura zuzena ekintza bera eta gertaera partikularren esanahia diskurtsoaren ardatzean kokatzen direla, beti ere norabide orokor edo lege historikoei buruzko galderari uko eginez. Natality is Hannah Arendt's term for the notion of human beginning, directly linked to History and the question of freedom. Natality, as a philosophical category, relates to one's own potentiality for the new and unexpected standing in contrast to the tradition's preoccupation with death. In the same way, political action, the essence of which is beginning, becomes the very source of man's freedom. Not general laws of movement but the meaning of particular events and deeds is the subject matter of History. History is thus a story which has many beginnings and no end.
